Our menu is built on our close relationship to local suppliers, and commitment to using the best raw ingredients. We are inspired by Norwegian food culture, in particular, Western Norway’s agricultural traditions. Bergen is renowned for its wet and changeable weather; this provides us with many exciting flavours and raw ingredients. To experience four seasons in one day is not a rare occurrence in Bergen. This is a challenge to many; for us it ensures diversity, creativity, and inspiration in the kitchen.

«𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮» is a charming tradition with roots all the way back to 19th century. Our vision is to create an unforgettable afternoon for our guests. Bring your family, friends or valued colleagues. We are consistent when it comes to using local produce in season, so this will be a traditional afternoon with a local twist. The most important thing for us is that the guests are getting an unforgettable experience.

Restaurant 1877 opened in January 2013. The restaurant is located in the venerable “Kjøttbaseren” (meat bazaar); 1877 is the year the market opened. The city’s market is another name for this building. This was where market trade was checked. Inside, the venue of brick and wood, brass plates and wrought iron lanterns, were built into stalls for a hygienic and controlled trade. With a strong focus on local raw produce and historic cultural references in the use of food, crockery, cutlery and decanters, we believe that we manage heritage in Meat Bazaar well. Using our knowledge and love of food, we do our best at giving you, the guest, a unique and memorable experience.
